Aliens enlist Smith's help to make Penny give them a magic amulet.
Arcon, a skeletal alien monster, surrounds Penny with a ring of fire. When she says she only wants to help, he extinguishes the fire and changes himself into a humanoid form to try to improve his breathing. Arcon is vastly superior to humans, but three saticons are pursuing him who want his magic amulet. Hearing them, he touches it and disappears, making the saticons trail him to the spaceship.
Though Maureen holds them off with the force field, they demand the surrender of Arcon, threatening to freeze the others. When Arcon learns from Penny that the demand has been ignored, he gives her the amulet for protection. But she must promise never to give it up for the saticons could destroy the entire galaxy with its power. Smith tells the saticons that Arcon has disappeared. H he gets the amulet for them, the saticons will send Smith back to Earth. Smith accepts eagerly but tries to trick them by fabricating a duplicate amulet, then rushes to tryout the transport machine. The saticons, in turn, plan to defraud him by materializing a facsimile of a Chinatown street.
When the saticons appear , Smith denounces them as cheats, and they denounce the amulet he is trying to pass off, promising the temperature will drop ten degrees an hour until they have the real one. Smith persuades Penny to surrender the amulet for the sake of them all. The saticons put Penny and Smith in the transport machine and materialize them on the fraudulent Chinatown street. Arcon tells Maureen that Penny, Smith, and the Robot have been dis- patched to a dead asteroid. Maureen pleads with him to save Penny, who broke her word about keeping the amulet only to save her loved ones from freezing.
Encouraged by Will, Arcon materializes himself on the Chinatown street just as the saticons are about to get the amulet. Arcon takes the amulet and causes an explosion that knocks the saticons over and tears the little asteroid to pieces. Rescuing Penny, Smith and the Robot, Arcon returns them to the spaceship and coldly suggests exiling Smith to a dead star.
Ray says: Horror Ledgend John Carridine guest stars as Arcon in this wonderful second season episode. The China Town destruction scene is one of the very best scenes from the three year run. Hats off to the special effects department for bringing us a climactic end to a great episode.
