Will stumbles through a space-warp and finds himself in a haunted Scottish Castle.
Driven into a cave by an electrical storm, Will and Smith become trapped by a rock slide. Will passes through a glowing door that disappears. After skirting a dark lagoon with a rumbling monster, he finds himself ina medieval torture chamber, complete with a ghost. Itis Hamish, a ghost with a double curse. He must haunt Glamis until he beheads the last of the Ruthven tribe, who caused his death.
Meanwhile, the Robot has brought Don, Maureen and Penny to dig Will and Smith out of the cave-in. Smith reports that Will went back into a tunnel, but the area he indicates is nothing but a solid rock wall. Don realizes Will must have gone through a space-warp caused by the electrical storm, and he gets equipment to duplicate the storm. Hamish is in the midst of a discourse when Don's efforts work and Will is soon outside the cave saying he had been in Scotland. His story is doubted until Smith analyzes a vine he has brought with him and identifies it as indigenous to Scotland. Will has stumbled onto a warp that will return them to Earth.
But Hamish, also, has been brought to the cave entrance, and Will finds him no longer a ghost but a flesh-and-blood man. Smith and Hamish return to the cave with maps and charts to the lost planet. But when Don turns on the power to move Hamish and Smith into the warp, he drops all the maps and dashes to the glowing door. Will runs to give him the charts and is himself caught in the warp. Smith is not too happy with his return to Earth as he finds himself on the monster-guarded beach.
Worse, Hamish, a ghost again, finds he is the last Ruthven, the very man he has hunted nine hundred years, and summons his headsman to behead him. Will saves Smith from his disgraceful panic -but not from the block. Hamish is determined to avenge the family honor, so Will summons Angus from the lagoon. Hamish is shamed by the boy' s bravery and allows him to take Smith back through the space warp to rejoin his anxious famil y. For this act of mercy , Hamish is allowed to join his forefathers -and to bring Angus so both may rest.
Ray says: My third favorite episode of the whole run. Bill Mumy is fantastic in this episode. Very dramatic scene as Angus chases Will through the castle during their first meeting.
