Will and Smith become prisoners in a fourth dimensional toyland.
Will stumbles upon an old android vending machine. Smith tries to work the old machine, but it suddenly whirs and crackles and in a puff of smoke, engulfs Smith. Will has by now been engulfed by the machine and finds himself in a mysterious toyland confronted by crotchety O.M. (Old Man), who shows him the factory. O.M. hangs Smith on a hook, thinking him a troublesome toy. Meanwhile, at the Jupiter 2, John plans to enter the machine with the Robot to rescue Will and Smith.
In toyland, meanwhile, Smith and Will have escaped from O.M. and try to find their way out. O.M. has commanded a toy monster to go after them. Back at the vending machine site, John and the Robot are confronted by Zumdish, an alien who claims the machine for demolition at the behest of the Celestial Department Store chain. John refuses to release the machine and the alien departs to get help. Will and Smith, meanwhile, have found a small opening that looks out onto an Earth village celebrating Christmas.
But before they can pry the boards loose and escape, the monster comers them. John and the Robot, meanwhile, have entered the machine just as Zumdish returns with a wooden security man. Back at the toy shop, O.M. realizes that Will is a boy, and immediately plans to train him to take over the shop. But John and the Robot arrive. John promises O.M. a good position and newer equipment for making toys if he will release them. Zumdish has laid a destructive charge on the machine. O.M.leads John, Will, Smith and the Robot out of the vending machine just as Zumdish destroys it. John pretends that he and O.M. are partners and plan a new toy factory. Zumdish responds by offering O.M. a lucrative and rewarding position with Celestial Department Stores, to which O.M. agrees.
Ray says:
One of the very best episodes from season two. There is scene in which Smith and Will find a doorway boarded up. When the boards are removed, they learn that this door will lead them back to Earth. Seeing Earth it is Christmas time.
* Blooper- In one of the scenes watch as the windup monster moves without being wound up.
