Penny and Debbie disappear into a magic mirror where they find a strange world inhabited by an alien boy.
After a cosmic storm clears, John finds Smith, Penny and Debbie under a platinum-framed alien mirror and leads them back to camp. As they leave, a horrible monster's eye peers out from the mirror at them. Don coerces Smith into planting the storm arrestors. Smith hurriedly plants one arrestor and then finds Penny and Judy talking by the mirror. As Smith approaches the mirror to begin disassembling its valuable frame, the Bloop suddenly disappears through it. Smith is stunned. The Bloop is discharged with a tiny bell and runs back to the Jupiter 2. Penny returns with Debbie and disappears through the glass.
Inside Mirrorland, Penny sees Smith and tries to beckon to him but he can neither hear nor see her. She encounters a boy who defines Mirrorland as Everywhere. Delighted to have a playmate, the boy shows her around. Through a mirror Penny watches her family back at the Jupiter 2 prepare for lunch. The boy explains that humans cannot leave Mirrorland once they enter. .But he assures her that they will never have to grow up.
Meanwhile, Smith has returned to .the mirror to smash it with a shovel. But as he swings, he too falls through. Inside, Penny tries to warn him that they are running from a beast but Smith laughs it all off as part of a bad dream. But the beast appears and begins to paw a scared Smith. Smith grabs a cannon and starts firing at the monster, but it has no effect. Standing by a reflecting pool, musing on the ineffectiveness of the weapon, he idly fires into his reflection. Smith reappears outside.
Penny sees this and does the same for herself. The boy cannot follow because his reflection does not appear in the pool. And outside, before Penny can stop him, Smith smashes the
mirror with a rock.
Back at the Jupiter 2, suspecting that a thief has stolen Don's knife as well as vegetables, Smith and Will rig an alarm system at the campsite. During the night the alarm sounds and they confront the culprit: a young boy, with a small glowing ball hanging from his neck, who charges them with a spear.
