The Keeper threatens to allow his entire animal collection to overrun the planet unless Penny and Will are turned over to him as specimens.
Having let all the Keeper's animals loose, Dr .Smith and the Robot are chased back to the Jupiter 2 by a monster. As he and the women take cover in the ship, John and Don are routed from an irrigation system by a giant iguanodon and rush back to the ship to turn on the force field. John questions Smith, but he feigns ignorance of the situation.
Later the Keeper appears and discovers Smith let his animals loose. Much angered, he demands that Penny and Will be turned over to him as specimens or else he will allow his animals to take over the
planet. In the morning, Smith makes his way to the Keeper and is ordered to convince John to turn over Penny and Will. If he fails, warns the Keeper, he will be thrown into a pit at the mercy of a horrible beast. As Smith returns to the Jupiter 2, Don and Judy decide to offer themselves to the Keeper in place of Penny and Will. John refuses Smith's plea that their only choice is to do as the Keeper says. He and Maureen decide to offer themselves in place of their children. Though touched, the Keeper refuses John and Maureen's offer. John swings his arm in frustration, accidentally knocking the Keeper's staff to the ground. Then Judy and Don appear and are also refused.
As the four make their way back to the Jupiter 2, the Keeper's fallen staff releases a horrible tentacled monster which knocks the Keeper unconscious. Back at their spaceship, the Robinsons discover Smith, Penny, and Will are gone. As Don and the Robinsons search for them, Smith hurts his foot and they stop to rest. Out of the dark, Don appears and begins to lead them back to the Jupiter 2. At the Keeper's spaceship, Maureen and her husband have revived the grateful alien.
Meanwhile, the tentacled monster has cornered Don, Will, Penny and Smith in the Chariot and is smashing it about. Don radios for help to John, who rushes to the scene and attempts to kill the beast. Suddenly the Keeper appears and drives the monster away.
That night, an alien space vehicle lands on the planet. Smith is shocked when a creature approaches him.
