Illinois native Jayne Brook attended Duke University and the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center in Connecticut before continuing her studies in England. She appeared in London stage productions such as "Much Ado About Nothing" and "Danny and the Deep Blue Sea," as well as modeling work for magazine advertising.
Her first role was as a teacher in Superman IV, and she has worked steadily in both television and film since. She was a regular in the short-lived drama "WIOU" and starred in the police drama "Sirens" as a rookie police woman. She is best known for her roles as Dr. Diane Grad, an infectious disease specialist on Chicago Hope and Seattle Police Lieutenant Jamie Avery on John Doe. She and her Chicago Hope costars were the recipient of a SAG award in 1999 for "outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series."
Jayne Brooks' film credits include roles in the feature films Kindergarten Cop, Clean Slate, Bye Bye, Love, Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead and Gattaca."
Jayne Brook lives in Los Angeles with her husband, actor John Terlesky and their daughter Alexandra.
